How I pray The Lord's Prayer
By Patrick Carr of PWCarr Music
I tend to personalize the Lord's Prayer and think of the deeper meaning of the words as I pray. "(My) Father God in Heaven, hallowed be thy name." Hallowed is revered, honored, loved. I believe God's true name is unpronounceable by us, but He told us one of His names when He spoke to Moses. "Tell them I AM sent you." "Thy kingdom come." Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven is within you." I am praying for not only for the kingdom to come on earth, but in me to conform me more to His image. "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven." Earth is not only the earth, but my physical nature. I believe God's will for me includes that I be more loving, giving, healthy, wealthy, and wise. "Give us this day our daily bread." God provides not only our physical, but spiritual needs. Jesus said, "I am the bread of life..." and "It is written, Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." The Word is not only scripture, but Christ himself - the Logos, the creative power of God who spoke the universe into existence. "And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us." I think of what I need to be forgiven for and those who I need to forgive. "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." God will not allow us to be tempted or tested above what we are able to bear. "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." Amen = So be it, it is done. |

Thanks for sharing this interesting intel, Pat. Keep up the good work. Best to you. Frederick
There is no better example of the correct way to pray than the Lord's Prayer. You made a nice touch by personalizing it. Thanks for following my intel Jim
I would have to say the most powerful impact I ever had from the Lords Prayer was when I sang it impromptu and accapella at my mothers funeral. It was just a flooding of the spirit that overcame me and moved me to do that and I will never forget it as long as I live. It was a Catholic service and the priest recited it earlier, but I couldn't leave it like that.
I love the Lord's Prayer. It is beautiful and complete. Thanks for sharing - nice Intel.
